Teaching & Training
The practice provides a wide range of training opportunities for Registrars.
The Practice has trained GP Registrars since 1978 and has been accredited with the RACGP and later Coast City Country Training (CCCT) Ltd.
Dr Brian Tugwell supervises registrars, while Dr Robert Wiles, a Senior Lecturer at ANU Rural Clinical School and Academic Co-Ordinator for Cooma works closely with visiting Medical Students.
The practice is accredited to reach Basic and Advanced registrars from the RACGP and ACRRM.
Six of our doctors are appointed Visiting Medical Officers (VMO's) at the Cooma Hospital and provide Emergency Medicine, In-Patient Care, Anaesthetics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Cooma Hospital also offers a full range of Community Health Services. Our Doctors visit aged care facilities and man the gaol clinic. Specialists in many fields hold regular clinics in Cooma. Medical Students, as part of their training, are encouraged to sit in on GP consults and the consultations of visiting specialists.
Cooma's GPs provide around the clock health care through the Cooma Hospital on a rostered on call basis. The two training practices in Cooma enjoy a very good working relationship.
